The Cathedral of the Fields

Spectacular in its modestly rural, if picturesque, surroundings, the Church of St Michael the Archangel at Booton, near Reepham, looks like it would be more at home in cities such as Canterbury, Cambridge, or Norwich. It is no surprise that it is also known as 'The Cathedra of the Fields,' or 'The Cathedral of the Villages.'

A Victorian reworking, courtesy of a Reverend Whitwell Elwin, of a far simpler medieval parish church, St Michael the Archangel is rarely used for services these days, yet both the exterior and interior of the church seem in excellent condition.
