Not what I expected, wandering round the woods, I must confess. The woods in the grounds of Blickling Hall, Norfolk. I was happy enough knowing the woods are supposedly visited once a year by the ghost of Anne Boleyn on the anniversary of her execution - Blickling Hall was once owned by the Boleyns.
The Hall would be bought in the early seventeenth century by the Hobarts - and the pyramid was commissioned in 1795 to house the remains of John Hobart, the 2nd Earl of Buckinghamshire, and his two wives, by his daughter Caroline. Hobart, like his father before him, was a Members of Parliament: Hobart's aunt, Henrietta Howard, the Countess of Suffolk, was a longtime mistress of King George II.
