Cheapest Seats in the House

Somewhat cold-looking seats dumped on Bunkers Hill, Bowthorpe, Norwich. They were faced with a beautiful view, though.

The Ruins of St. Michael

The ruins of the medieval parish church of St. Michael, Bowthorpe. Desacrilized in the Reformation, the church supposedly fell into total ruin at the end of the eighteenth century.

In the 1970s, with Bowthorpe being developed as a suburb of Norwich, the Bowthorpe Church Centre was built, and it is this church that serves the community today. St. Michael's occupies the same grounds: indeed, its crumbled walls constitute part of the Church Centre's garden of remembrance.

Both churches overlook the shopping trolley-swamped carpark of the local shopping precinct.

Bald Spots

Because I just find those patches sheltered from the snow beneath trees oddly fascinating. Wandering round the grounds of the University of East Anglia.

Moss-Covered Suns and Crescent Moons

Adorning the fences on a small pathway behind St Marys Church, Earlham. Overlooking the traffic of Earlham Rd and the grey bleakness (on this particular grey bleak Sunday, at least) of Earlham Marsh, they at least catch the eye.

There's Chalk in Them There Woods

Wandering round Danby Woods, a small patch of urban woodland on the outskirts of Norwich. Formally the site of a chalk quarry and mine, and this is clearly apparent in looking at the landscape.

The entrance to the mine is sealed, so the last couple of shots were taken through a gap in the hatchway. The mine is now a breeding ground for bats.
