Underground on a Sunny Day: Newmarket Road Lime Kiln
This lime kiln is on the site of one of Norwich's several former chalk mines, now an overgrown patch of woodland close to Newmarket Road. Although not terribly deep, it was nevertheless cold enough down there to be able to see one's breath, and this on a warm and clear day. The sheer abundance of green plant life crawling over the steps leading down to the kiln was possibly the most striking aspect.

Day Thirty: Dawntilldusk
Final day of April, final entry in the April Showers series. I enjoyed doing these, giving me an excuse to snap and use images that otherwise wouldn't necessarily have fit elsewhere. It also reinforced my utter love for my iPhone camera. Even without my Fujifilm in my bag, knowing my phone is capable of such imagery means I'm constantly on the look-out for potential shots. There's a book of (far superior) iPhone photography by a chap called Chase Jarvis with a title I fully appreciate: 'The Best Camera is the One That's with You.'

Zen-Like Emptiness: The Great Yarmouth Empire
The Grade II* listed Empire Theatre, on Great Yarmouth seafront. Cinema, bingo hall, and, most recently, a nightclub called Zen, this once grand building was constructed in 1908, designed by an architect by the name of A.S. Hewitt. Still fairly dramatic, the nightclub closed in late 2008. The numerous pigeons nesting in the facade seemed fairly happy about the building's fall from grace, at least.
